Job Summary:

Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) brings together the Company's best-in-class product, technology, and commercialization teams together into one global organization. DMED is responsible for the P&L management and all distribution, network and engineering operations, sales, advertising, data, and certain key technology functions worldwide for the Company's content engines. DMED also manages operations of the Company's streaming services including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney+ Hotstar; and domestic broadcast and cable television networks.

Business Relationship Management (BRM) is a service and expertise function. Its success is derived from the intelligent counsel and service it provides to the parts of Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) and Global Operations groups. It drives work intake and supports stakeholders with prioritization, develops business analysis and requirements, communicates roadmaps, develops business cases, facilitates quarterly reviews, provides regular transparency across all work efforts, and delivers on key programs that drive efficiencies and leverages DMED technology global scale. These teams are aligned to the business stakeholders across the entirety of TWDC who depend on products and services delivered by DMED Technology.

Content Operations focuses on the elements of the global Digital Supply Chain where content is created, transformed, stored, packaged, or delivered. This includes the critical areas of Mastering, Localization, Asset Management, Order Management, and key systems and workflows that connect these disciplines. The Content Operations BRM group also helps establish the governance and strategy necessary to integrate many systems outside of the core portfolio in order to create an effective, scalable supply chain.

Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Manager - Technology and Systems, The Technical Operations Manager is responsible for helping contribute toward strategic technical initiatives to support the wider DMED media supply chain and content distribution strategy.

Understands, shapes and drives new initiatives to position Disney as a proactive adopter of technology innovations, enabling the business to input into vendor, producer, customer & industry debates. For example, UHD consumer adoption, component-based workflows, research (IMF, MEC/MMC, etc.) and development, OTT delivery requirements, optimal mezzanine and delivery codecs, UID/EIDR integration & adoption, component-based workflows, international audio requirements etc.

Helps to implement and provide support to drive new technical delivery initiatives, which when required will involve liaising with exhibitors to ensure that levels of expectation are met. Mediates practical resolution to technical issues encountered with delivered materials.

Attends internal and external technology events, representing TWDC EMEA and building relationships with key suppliers, and customers at senior level. Is able to communicate effectively on significant, industry wide technology developments, and represent key strategic initiatives from a TWDC perspective.

Has line Management responsibility for the On-Boarding of all new digital platform partners. Reviewing technical specifications and building workflows to enable the successful delivery of digital media and metadata requirements via third parties.

Responsibilities:

Client / Affiliate Onboarding Management

Oversees the technical On-Boarding of new digital platforms, with line management responsibility.

Supply-Chain Systems Analysis & Consultation

Contributes to a variety of system developments for the Media Supply Chain providing analysis, expertise and contextual reasoning in order to drive requirements.

Technical Business Support

Works with internal/cross-divisional teams in ensuring operational efficiencies, best practices, support and capturing via documentation.

Business Stakeholder partnership

Builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at a manager level.

Experience:
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in Post-Production, Technology, Digital or TV Distribution.
  • Proven experience of developing and deploying systems, and workflow improvements.
  • Proven experience working with MAM, DAM, MDM, DMS and AQC solutions.
  • Proven experience with XML/JSON technologies and encoding/transcoding for delivery to digital media clients, including metadata delivery requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of video and audio mastering workflows, plus localization workflows including knowledge of dubbing, subtitling and re-mastering for local markets.
  • Experience of working directly with iTunes, Google and other digital platforms a strong advantage.
  • Strong commercial, technical and consumer understanding of transactional digital stores.
  • Experience of AGILE, LEAN and SCRUM development methodologies and BPM tools an advantage.
  • Excellent and demonstrable project management experience.
  • Experience of identifying and implementing workflow change.
  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Good presentation and communication skills.
